Hey there! Welcome back to another Do It Yourself article from all the staff here from ToolPartsDirect.com. This time we’re going to show you how to change the wear plate on a Porter Cable belt sander.

Tools You Will Need:

Phillips Screwdriver

Let’s get started. First things first, make sure your belt sander is powered off and unplugged. We don’t want you to hurt yourself.

Step 1:

First, move the clamp handle to the right and remove the belt from the sander.

Step 2:

Now, begin unscrewing the screw from the wear plate while holding the back nut with your wrench.

Step 3:

Once the old wear plate is removed, begin screwing by hand the new wear plate onto your belt sander. This will prevent your screws from being stripped.

Now, begin screwing the screws with your Phillips screwdriver.

You may have some trouble with the lower screw, but if you screw it in by hand and then use your screwdriver…it should go in just fine. Also, don’t be afraid to use your wrench to get a better grip.

Step 4:

Finally, install the belt back onto the sander.

Lock the clamp lever to the left and make sure the belt is secure. And there you have it! Hopefully, this article has saved you some time and money.

We invite you to look at our prior Do It Yourself articles and also keep an eye out for future content from all the staff here at ToolPartsDirect.com!
