Hey everybody! Welcome back to another Do It Yourself article from all the staff here at ToolPartsDirect.com. Today, we’re going to show you replace the chuck in a DeWalt Impact Driver.

Tools You Will Need:

Phillips Screwdriver

Let’s get started!

Step 1:

First, use your pick to remove the hog washer from the impact driver. This is the hardest part of this project.

Step 2:

Once the hog washer is removed, remove the spring, plain washer, retaining rings and other parts inside the driver. Be careful! They are spring loaded.

They should look something like this.

Step 3:

Inspect and replace any broken parts with the new parts you have acquired. First, install the retaining ring and the ball into the driver. Then begin to reassemble the rings.

Step 4:

Take the sleeve and slide it onto the chuck. Then, take the spring and push it into the hole. The spring fits either way.

Step 5:

Once the spring is installed, attach the plain washer and the retaining ring to the impact driver.

Step 6:

Take the hog washer and spread it to clip around the anvil assembly.

Step 7:

Insert a drill bit and test your tool to make sure it works.

And there you go! Hopefully, this saved you some time and money. Make sure keep an eye out for future content from all of us here at ToolPartsDirect.com.
