How to Replace the Drain valve on a Porter Cable Compressor

Hello again! Welcome back to another Do It Yourself article from all the staff here at ToolPartsDirect.com! Today, we’re going to show you how to replace the drain on a Porter Cable Compressor.

Tools You Will Need:

Propane Torch

Torque Wrench

Thread Seal Tape

As always, before we get started, make sure your compressor switch is set to the “OFF” position. Also, make sure your compressor is unplugged. Remember, safety first! Got that done? Alright! Let’s get started!

Step 1:

First, check the gauges and pull the safety valve to ensure there is no air in it.

Step 2:

Now, take your blowtorch and apply heat around the drain valve.

Step 3:

Take your torque wrench and apply enough pressure to loosen the valve.

Once you remove the valve, there most likely will be moisture inside the compressor. Have a rag on-hand to wipe up the spill. Make sure the moisture drains completely out before you continue.

Step 4:

Now, wrap one layer of Teflon tape on the thread. Make sure it’s going the same direction the thread is.

Step 5:

Replace the drain valve, close it. Then, plug it in and test it to make sure it works.
